Vigilant Gaze
Description
The shoebill is one of Africa’s most ancient and mysterious birds that now faces a fragile future. Found in Uganda’s wetlands, this rare species is threatened by habitat loss, wetland destruction, and human disturbance. Through bold palette knife textures, I painted the shoebill not just as a subject, but as a symbol of what we stand to lose when nature is ignored. Its stillness speaks of endurance. Its gaze carries the weight of survival. This artwork is my voice for the shoebill. Because art can create awareness where silence allows disappearance.
